Geoff and I were in a Psychology of Emotion class and we learned all about different emotions and the evolutionary responses to them etc.... and over the whole entire class the last lecture was the one that touched me most... we learned that there is a COGNITIVE component to stress we must think of these three things... 1. to cope by being emotion focused versus problem focused 2. appraisal of the situation--is the stress a threat or a challenge; will the stress damage me or help me become better? and 3. personal control of the situation knowing how you can change the situation to become something better for you...
that was it.
that was all we learned.
but something was missing...
um....
WE CAN GIVE IT TO JESUS!!! WE CAN CALL ON OUR HEAVENLY FATHER TO HELP US!!
That was my 4th item to the cognitive appraisal of stressful situations.
I just finished my 2nd final. I have a small meeting tonight to discuss my other 2 finals tomorrow... I have alot to finish tonight... I have a paper to write... uuuuugh i have alot to do.... sooo i came out to CSULA's court yard to get a head start...and this song played in my itunes...

you can do it crystal! and that song is really special in my family. funny enough, its the song that my mom asked we play at her funeral one day. when ever it comes on she cranks it up and says "oh! make SURE you have this at my funeral!" :) sometimes i listen to it on my ipod and dance, other times I cry out of joy or the feeling of relief in just LETTING GO of that darn anxiety that always nags at me.
i've been doing some reading on how to handle stress; its good to know your tips, and to know that you go through it too. i love you girl! good luck with your last finals!
actually, the song my mom wants is "Redeemer" by nicole c mullen. i mixed up the songs, because i love them both! have a listen to the one i mentioned if you get a chance and consider it a little prayer i have for you and for me :) xox
